Some Facts About Halloween

Monday 21 October 2013

Halloween also known as All Hallows' Eve, is a yearly celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It initiates the triduum of Hallowmas, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed believers.

Here’s a list of some crazy Halloween superstitions:
  • Peel an apple from top to bottom, the person with the longest un-broken peel would be assured the longest life.
  • If you throw the peel over your shoulder the letter it forms upon landing is the initial of your future partner.
  • If you hear 3 knocks and no one is there it usually means someone close to you has died. The superstitious call this the 3 knocks of death.
  • If a black cat crosses your path you will have bad luck for 3 days.
  • To prevent ghosts coming into the house at Halloween bury animal bones or a picture of an animal near your front door.
  • Knocking on wood keeps bad luck away.
  • If you see a spider on Halloween it could be the spirit of a dead loved one who is watching over you.
  • If a candles flame suddenly turns blue it means there’s a ghost nearby.
  • Put your clothes on inside out and walk backwards on Halloween to meet a witch.
  • When walking past a graveyard turn your pockets inside out so you don’t bring home a ghost in your pocket.
             HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
